Physicians should get involved in local state efforts as local and regional health information exchanges are formed in the interest of becoming a meaningful user of health information technology with regard to interoperability. They can also work with regional health IT extension centers to gain further understanding of meaningful use and information about certified products. Physicians now need to be moving ahead aggressively with their certified health information technology decisions.
