Halleluiah for the digital age. In the past, hearing aids worked of the old analogue system where feedback, whistling and problems with volume where the norm. Thankfully it is very common today to find digital hearing aids which have features that are very impressive. They provide clearer sound and do so through the transformation of sound into numbers or digits, and when these digital hearing aids have computer chips on board as well, it is easy to make use of mathematical formulae which are used on these digits and thus sounds are controlled to give the hearer a better output.
Smart Devices
What is a Smart Device? The first thing you will realize about your digital hearing aids is that they are smart devices which means they can digitally process sound which allows them to distinguish between noise and voices. Thus it is now possible to program them to amplify the voice part and at the same time dampen the noise part of the sounds processed. This is the reason why digital hearing aids output extremely clear voice, even when there is loud background noise, this is far superior to what analog hearing aids where capable of.
Digital hearing aids also provide you with a solution to feedback and whistling that plagued the use of the old analogue hearing aids. Forcing you to reduce the volume thereby making it difficult to hear what was going on. . In addition, digital hearing aids can also be made so that they monitor all sounds that enter and exit the hearing aid, and establish whether or not such sounds are feedback, which if it were the case, causes the digital hearing aids to immediately cancel such feedback.
Naturally, like with anything else, the better the features the higher the price. However even the cheaper range of digital hearing aids will manage sound very efficiently, while the more high-end ones give users the ability to hear very faint noises and without any feedback, they may also include directional microphones that help in getting rid of surrounding sounds.
Digital hearing aids are not a one size fits all product. It is important that you consult with your specialist to determine exactly what your problem is and be guided as to what the best form of digital hearing aid is best suited to you. The inner contours of your ear must be taken into account insuring a comfortable fit.
The final cost of your digital hearing aid will depend on your condition and the features you want included, but be assured digital hearing aids are brilliant and I don’t think I have met one person who is not absolutely satisfied by the results they have experienced.

Is there an explosion in the occurrence of Diabetes in our modern society?.
In order to look for a cure for diabetes we must understand what causes diabetes in the first place and then we can start to work on a cure.
Diabetes is an ailment that affects the levels of insulin in a person’s body. There are basically three forms of this disease and these are type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. All these forms of Diabetes relate directly to the insulin levels and how our body functions under this altered state.
Basic information on the Types of Diabetes
1. Type 1 diabetes
In this disease the individual’s auto immune system attacks and reduces the pancreatic beta cells from producing the necessary insulin for the body to function properly. When the pancrius is not functioning as it should the production of natural insulin is reduced below optimum levels or is in fact stopped altogether which has dangerous implications for other functions of the body.
2. Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. It actually accounts for more than 90% of all cases of diabetes. With this disease the body does not make or properly use insulin, a hormone that helps convert sugar, starches and other foods into energy. Eventually a person’s body will stop producing insulin if they have this disease. Unfortunately, it is not yet known why this happens. However, genetics and environmental factors do play a role. .
Gestational Diabetes
Gestational diabetes occurs only with women and only during pregnancy. Unlike Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes has no recognizable symptoms. The only way to know if you have it is through regular blood screenings throughout your term. These screenings are blood tests where you have to fast overnight, then are given a sugary drink to see how your body reacts. You need two positive readings before you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
Cures For Diabetes
For Gestational diabetes the cure is actually very simple. Since some hormones produced in a pregnant woman’s body promotes some tissues to resist insulin, the cure for diabetes in pregnant women is to give birth. Your doctor will suggest a diet that will assist in keeping your blood sugars in check during your pregnancy.
However, doctors have no actual “cure” for diabetes types 1 & 2at the moments. What they do now to “cure” diabetes is to present alternatives to patients who suffer from this disease. As an actual cure for diabetes is not available there are however cures for the symptoms which are readily available.
For Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes, most doctors either recommend changing the patient’s diet and keeping a close watch or in more severe cases, injecting insulin into the body during times when it becomes too low.
Research is currently underway where replacing the defective beta cells that produce insulin in order to refresh the pancreatic cells. This method of cure for diabetes is still undergoing experimental tests and has not been made available for public use.. So far, the research and studies have brought to light the potential problem of needing long maintenance medication in order to support the transplanted beta cells.
Although there is still a long way to go before any cure for diabetes can actually become a reality. With the rapid improvements in experimentation you should keep track of the progress that researchers and pharmaceutical companies are making towards finding a cure for diabetes.
While waiting for this cure for diabetes, you should keep healthy with plenty of regular exercise and a healthy natural diet keeping away from all those fatty, oily foods your body will be in good shape awaiting the day when the cure becomes a reality.

Cholesterol has been a hot topic in the past ten years. People draw conclusions that if you have cholesterol you have a poor diet and have poor health, people also want to get rid of cholesterol without understanding what it is or how it affects your body.
People need to learn that there are in fact two types of cholesterol bad cholesterol (known as low density or LDL) and good cholesterol (known as high density or HDL). Remember to reduce your fat in take especially fats that have saturated fat as they tend to raise blood cholesterol levels. Avoid eating fried foods as well, choosing grilled, broiled and baked foods as a healthy alternative.

Is Chinese Herbal Medicine for real? When you take into account the fact that Chinese Herbal Medicine has been practiced for around 5000 years and has been documented for a lot of that time, you would conclude that it obviously works and with the guidance of trained practitioners it could well be beneficial in your health care needs.
Firstly it must be understood that Chinese herbal medicines for children have literally been developed, tried, tested and in most cases proved to be very affective. These medicines have been in use for over 5000 years.
Chinese herbal medicine for children takes on a holistic approach which does not only look at treating the symptoms but also looks at strengthening the bodies resistance and mental stability of the patient ensuring overall health.
Unfortunately one of the shortcomings of conventional medicines is that they often have detrimental side effects. For example, the overuse of antibiotics can make a child more susceptible to illnesses like ear infections. Another is that they treat your child (and you) like a machine and not like people. We are not suggesting that you should seek to replace your conventional pediatrician, you can certainly look into incorporating Chinese herbal medicines for your children for their care.
What Ailments Respond To Traditional Chinese Medicine
There are some ailments and long-term conditions that seem to respond very well to Chinese herbal medicines for your children. These include asthma, diabetes and juvenile arthritis. Chinese Traditional Medicine (TCM) has realized that children have different health needs than adults and have been developed over thousands of years. Chinese herbal medicines for your children are designed to have the child’s body retun to its natural balance.
TCM Powders
Chinese herbal medicines for your children are often given to you in powdered form. These powders can then be mixed in applesauce or a drink and administered twice a day, or whatever the TCM practitioner recommends. Unlike modern medicines where there is an expiry date, the powders themselves are usually odorless, have very little taste and can be stored over very long periods of time. They are also tailored to meet the individual health needs of your child.
Chinese herbal medicine powders for your children are made from dried extractions of natural botanical material (roots, stems, leaves and the like). These medicines are now made and packed in modern, sterile laboratories. The plant material is boiled until a sap like substance is made. This substance is then dried and ground up to make the powders. They are far more potent than the original material it came from.
TCM Also Requires Your Active Participation
Unlike conventional medicine, where you depend entirely on the doctor’s direction, you are part of your health solution in TCM. Pediatrics in TCM looks at treating children in four ways
– through proper diet,
– herbal medicines,
– Chinese massage (Tui Na) and
– acupuncture.
– Your child will also be expected to learn how to handle stress and to regularly exercise.
You will find that most children like the TCM sessions like Tui Na massage or acupuncture. The needles are incredibly thin now and insertion can barely be felt. Sometimes Chinese Herbal medicines for your children are burnt near the child during these sessions. Don’t be alarmed. These burning herbs will not be put on the child. They seem to activate the emotions and self-esteem of the child to help give their natural immune system a boost.
As you can see it is not just a question of taking a prescription to cure the ailment but rather a complete system to transform the body back to natural balance.

We all know that prevention is better than cure, therefore to prevent the on set of a yeast infection, firstly we need to know what it is, how it starts then we can set up affective habits to prevent it from occurring in the first place.
Most women are prinmarily concerned about vaginal yeast infection, the cause of this yeast infection is certainly attributable to Candida Albicans which are nasty organisms that live in the vagina and if allowed to multiply will likely cause the advent of yeast infection in the vagina.
Reasons Why Candida Albicans Multiplies
There are several reasons why Candida Albicans multiply and among the reasons are:
- Too much heat,
- Transmission through sexual activity,
- Changes in sugar levels
- Changes in the hormones
All of which can result in vaginal yeast infection.
Other reasons why Candida Albicans will multiply include the use of antibiotics, clothes that are not made from cotton and also certain chemicals.
Even use of condoms while having sexual intercourse can result in vaginal yeast infection. Even if one does try and reduce yeast products in one’s diet, there is still no clinching evidence to suggest that doing so will prevent yeast infection.
Yet another cause of yeast infection is not having proper personal hygiene, as the presence of moisture is also what the microorganisms need to thrive in. Thus a woman having menstrual periods would be more likely to suffer from yeast infection.
The use of some agents that are especially irritating such as bubble baths, vaginal douches, and in addition, certain soaps that are of harsh nature and even toilet paper that has been perfumed and detergents that are used to wash undergarments can also become a cause of yeast infection.
It is also not a good thing for a woman to wipe from anus to vagina after having urinated as that is a surefire means of transferring yeasts as bacteria to the vagina from the rectum. Also, washing of the vaginal area more than is necessary with tap water will make for another cause of yeast infection. What’s more, yeast infection is not solely confined to the vagina and it can even be found in oral cavities as well as bowels, folds in skin, nipples, ears and even on the penis.
Thus, there is a pressing need to identify the basic cause of yeast infection so as to make it considerably easier to prevent and also cure the disease from developing further.Diets rich in anti-oxidants are also a very good way to build up your bodies resistance levels helping your bodies own defence mechanism control the yeast infection.

It is very easy to put short term memory loss down to old age. And say that it is but natural to start forgetting things as you age. However, while this may be true, there are several other causes of short term memory loss that should not be ignored as they could be signalling to more complex problems.
Let’s have a look at some of these more complex matters, for example:
Alzheimer’s disease
As our population ages the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia become more and more prevalent.Anyone who has lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s understands that this cause of short term memory loss is something not to be taken lightly. Coupled with dementia, this disease is the subject of a lot of research and although no real cure has been found for it, nipping it in the bud or at least diagnosing it correctly in the preliminary stages is crucial.
Blood Sugar
Another problem associated with modern living is the tendency to skip meals during the day and making up with a large heavy meal at night. People that starve themselves then have a big meal often have very instable blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar can lead the brain to get sleepy and groggy and hence become one of the causes of short term memory loss. This is why doctors often recommend that patients who want to improve their memory have six small meals in a day as opposed to three large ones so as to keep blood sugar levels steady.
Hormonal Havoc
Again as a part of the aging process, hormonal imbalance is often a cause of short term memory loss as menopause sets in and estrogen levels start to dwindle. Although hormone replacement therapies and other such treatments and preventions have become common today, this is certainly a factor worth looking into when figuring out causes of memory loss.
Depression and Drinking
The pressures of living today is a major cause of depression and short term memory loss. People who are depressed and especially those who are taking medication often cannot remember things clearly because of the side effects of the drugs. Apart from medical drugs, recreational drug abuse and excessive alcohol consumption can also be amongst the causes of short term memory loss.
Natural Treatments
It is important to have your doctor diagnose yur condition and isolate the causes of your short term memory loss for your specific case, he may recommend drugs, mental exercises, a more healthy lifestyle or some natural, herbal supplements,.
Although the results have not been very conclusive, some studies have shown that ginkgo biloba and anti-oxidants to help prevent brain cell damage and to restore mental memory function has been successful. Some like to try out the herbal supplements, some prefer a more pharmaceutical approach whereas some just like the old fashioned route of healthy eating and exercise. Ask your doctor which is best for your case.
As they say “If you don’t use it you will lose it”, it is therefore very important to keep your mind and body active ensuring good blood circulation. Don’t sucome to the trappings of the modern sedentary lifestyle be active in both body and mind.

Drug use among teenagers has reached tragic levels. No matter how on top of it you are, your teenagers are going to be exposed to drugs at school, the very place you think should be a safe environment. Mrs. Reagan’s ‘Just say no to drugs’ campaign was a complete failure. The fact is that teenagers view adults as old stupid people that have never seen the outside of a paper bag. Parents, try as they may, face an uphill war in protecting their young ones from the devastating effects of drugs.
The battle is made tougher by the fact that most of us have prescription drugs in our bedroom drawers. When confronting the issue of teens and drugs, you have to present a sound argument that distinguishes between necessary medications and street drugs. This isn’t easy. Some common prescription medications are being sold at school as a way to catch a buzz. Teens don’t know that these medications are issued in duplicate or triplicate, as a way to control the use of certain narcotics. Without having experienced a legitimate need for such drugs themselves, they may well come to the conclusion that their parents are experiencing and liking some high that they are somehow being denied.
One more problem with educating children on the issue of teen drug use is that society does not make any distinction between drugs. Some pharmaceutical drugs are needed, but when it comes to our youth and drugs, we say that every drug is bad. This is a deception. Some kids require medications for a legitimate condition. Not used correctly, that medication can produce a high in a kid who doesn’t need it. Sometimes, that drug can have disastrous consequences when taken as a ‘recreational’ drug.
Children are not capable of making those distinctions. For example, a patient with extreme pain because of arthritis or cancer, may be prescribed codeine or another opiate to manage the pain. Children don’t understand that this person doesn’t get high. That drug only eases the pain. However, in the world of teens and drugs, this narcotic becomes an opportunity toget high. They don’t know the difference.
One big deception that encourages teen drug abuse is the fable of marijuana. This street drug is made out to be the first step to drug addiction, thrown in the same bag as pcp and crack cocaine. The second that middle school child tries marijuana, the child sees that even though it gets them high and they like it, they can hide this new habit from their parents and it doesn’t make them crazy. They conclude that the rest of the warnings about teenagers and drugs are deceptions. That’s why they fall into the jaws of the really dangerous drugs.
As a world village, we need to educate our children. Teach them the effects of drugs. Cocaine, crack, heroin and drugs like ‘ecstasy’ can destroy their lives or kill them. Be honest. We can defend our children.Addiction is a terrible problem in our society today but with the “proper” education we can teach our future generations the realities of addictions and drug abuse.
