Properly Treating Your Acne

Acne Care Treatment

Perhaps this is your first search for an acne care treatment. You know nothing at all at where to start. You just know I need an acne care product of some type to help me get rid of the pizza face. A couple of things to consider is your type of acne, and its severity, and which type of product is for me.

One method in determining your acne type is to clean your face, dry it, then apply a sheet of toilet paper to your face. If it falls off quickly, you have a dry skin condition. If the paper sticks right away then your face is more on the oily side. I know this may seem like some primitive caveman method, so, if you like, just see a dermatologist, this is usually the best way. Just ask your primary care physician, they will know.

You may know by just viewing the type of acne appearing on your face or neck or back. Are they whiteheads, blackheads, nodules - redness bumps, or cystic - pus-filled.

Are you breaking out everyday, other day, week, or a couple times a month? Is it covering yuor complete face, or parts or just neck and back? Do you notice it occurs after certain foods you eat, or from stressful moments? These are all things to consider in determining the path to a proper acne care treatment.

At this point you have determined hopefully what type of acne, and its occurrences. Next on the agenda is the right acne treatment product for you. Your dermatologist will most likely have a suggestion. I am not in favor of antibiotics myself, but they may be necessary.

I used them at first but it did not help. Some external acne facial cleansing system will do the trick. There are many too. Some of the most popular is Neutrogena, Proactiv, DermaClear, as well as some home acne remedies. I would start in this direction first, with the inexpensive, but not necessarily the least effective.

Get Rid Of Cellulite With Essential Oils

Cellulite is often misunderstood. The appearance is often likened to that of cottage cheese or is given the nice little term dimpled. Regardless of what you want to call it, cellulite is simply subcutaneous fat deposits.

Regardless of popular thought cellulite is not a “fat” problem, in fact it has more to genetics. Individuals are predisposed as to how their body will store its fat. This is the reason why you will see thin individuals with cellulite and over weight individuals who do not appear to have any cellulite at all. In addition environmental damage, aging and hormones are also thought to play a role in the formation of cellulite.

If you are looking for a natural solution for cellulite than essential oils may be an option. Many essential oils may be safely used to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. The applications that are most commonly used are bathing and massage. For a bath use approximately ten drops of your chosen essential oil in your water, do not however add the oil to your bath until you have finished running your water. Ensure that you agitate the water with your hand before getting in to ensure that the oil is not sitting in a clump on the surface.

The other application that can be used is by making up a mixture that can be massaged into the affected area. To make a massage oil for this purpose simply add two to three drops of your chosen essential oil and add it to one ounce of your favorite carrier oil and enjoy. Regardless which application you choose, use regularly.

1. The aroma of Tangerine essential oil can be described as sweet, fresh, comforting and lively. This essential oil is extracted from the outer peel of the fruit by cold expression. If you decide to give Tangerine essential oil a try ensure that you to do not use it before you on an area of skin that will exposed to direct sunlight as it is has been known to be phototoxic.

Other citrus essential oils that can be applied for this therapeutic use are lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit.

2. Geranium essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves, stalks or flowers of the plant Pelargonium graveolens. This essential oil has an exotic, spicy, floral scent and is known as the “women’s oil” because of the benefits it provides for menstrual and menopausal issues.

3. Wintergreen essential oil has a warm minty scent which is recognized world wide. This essential oil is extracted by steam or water distillation from the leaves of the plant Gaultheria procumbens.

4. Oregano is one of the most popular spices found in kitchens however Oregano essential oil is one of the most popular oils in aromatherapy. This oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried herb and leaves.

5. Juniper Berry essential oil is believed to be one of the first aromatics used dating back to ancient civilizations. This versatile essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the dried or slightly dried ripened fruit of the plant Juniperus communis.

6. Pine essential oil has a very recognizable scent and is often associated with winter and the holidays. This essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the needles, twigs and buds of Pinus sylvestris. Do not use oil from the dwarf pine Pinus pumilio.

If using essential oils interests you then choose an essential oil that has the therapeutic properties that you are looking for but that also has a scent or aroma that you find appealing.

Are You On An Anti Acne Diet?

Acne is a common problem especially for those who are just experiencing their beginning teenage years. Through the combination of hormonal changes and improper diet and poor hygiene, acne can rear its ugly head. One thing you can do is develop an anti acne diet which can help you battle against the acne triggers in food. I know many experts say that diet has nothing to do with outbreaks of acne, but having suffered myself, I know by experience, that it is not true, diet is a trigger.

An anti acne diet would be a diet which will help to lessen the effects these contributors. There are actually many things in an anti acne diet that should be followed even if you are not suffering from acne. These things should also be complemented by the right kind of hygiene and care for your skin. This is because the said skin condition can be aggravated by the touch of dirty hands and clogged pores from excessive perspiration. Mine flares up during hot humid days.

Since the skin condition is the result of clogged pores, the anti acne diet will work best if you refrain from overly touching your face and also applying too much make up. Trust me, face touching only spreads the dirt from your hands to your face, assisting the clogging effect. Many types of make up can actually contribute to clogged pores which is you should avoid wearing if you are experiencing a rise in your acne breakouts, because it can be a trigger to you.

Bad things for An Anti Acne Diet

Some of the food stuffs that one should omit from your anti acne diet includes foods which are high in fats, oils and grease. You know, greasy french fries, deep fried anything really. These foods may be naturally rich in fat or may have been cooked with grease and oils, particularly vegetable oil that have had other things cooked in it all day even. I have a hard time with safflower and sunflower oil, even virgin olive oil. I know, these are the healthier oils, but oil is oil. My best luck has been with canola oil, in moderation. The problem with these oily and greasy foods is that our body does not need a lot of oils and grease as it has to get rid of it.

This should be considered when thinking of an anti acne diet. Many believe,(and know) that the oils and grease from fast foods and other fried foods will add to the rising problems regarding the skin condition. The increase of it for me personally will cause a breakout every time. Remember, your skin needs to be able to breathe. Clogged pores can happen naturally, they don’t need our help. I have noticed by not touching my face alot has reduced the breakouts.

Good Things in a Anti Acne Diet

An anti acne diet should have high fiber fruits and vegetables to help ease the passage of the bowels. Irregular bowel movement encourages toxins to build in our body thus creating skin breakouts and blemishes. Natural grains are also great as sources of fiber. We need Water! Our body is made up of more than 90% water. So, keep yourself hydrated, it does help. Especially on those hot, humid days, which become a challenge to me. I have experienced what I call humid acne that occurs sometimes. They can appear and go away once the body is cleansed and cools down. Weird, but true.

Creating your very own anti acne diet can end up with satisfactory results if you follow the diet closely and accompany the diet with exercise and good hygiene practices.

Child food allergy

Often Unrecognized, Often Undiagnosed, Delayed Food Allergy In Children

You might find it surprising that not all allergies present with a fast-responding allergic reaction; you might find it surprising that it can be as long as three days before symptoms of an allergy present as a noteworthy reaction. All of the above are nevertheless true, and they are especially true of food allergies.  The condition even has a name, despite the fact that these food allergies often go undiagnosed—Delayed Food Allergy.

How Can Food Allergy Reactions Be Delayed?

Food molecules begin to be absorbed when they enter the mouth and digestive track, but they also continue to be broken down as food moves through the body.  This means that some allergens found in foods will not be in a form that can aggravate until after some processing has occurred; it also means that some allergens will not build up to an intolerable level until after a time of processing.  All of this processing can take a fair amount of time, and delayed food allergy in children may not present symptoms for some time; it can take a few hours, or as long as twelve hours or three days for a delayed food allergy reaction in a child to show up.

So Many Symptoms, So Easily Mistaken

It’s fairly easy to figure out that a child has an allergy to a food when the symptoms come on fast and present obviously; but it’s a much different story when a food allergy reaction is delayed.

A sudden-onset food allergy reaction will normally present with itching of the face, throat, or mouth, and may also cause hives and swelling.

These symptoms may also be present when there is delayed food allergy in children, but it may take hours before they occur.  More commonly, though, the symptoms of delayed food allergy in children are those that can easily pass for something other than an allergy, and that is why delayed food allergy in children is so often left undiagnosed.  The symptoms that are often missed in a food allergy in children include:

• Stomach upset
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain and cramps
• Constipation
• Congestion
• Headache
• Hyperactivity
• Mood changes
• Muscle or joint pain
• Gastrointestinal disease or condition

Obviously, each of these are symptoms that can easily be attributed to a wide variety of allergies and illnesses.  When other allergies cannot be found, or symptoms seem to coincidentally come on after certain foods are eaten, it might be wise to start considering the possibility of delayed food allergy in children.

In truth, many delayed food allergies in children fall more easily into the category of food intolerance rather than food allergy because there is no association with the allergy immune antibody IgE, the antibody that classically defines a reaction as an allergy.  The difference is really worth noting only for the sake of immunotherapy and the selection of medications.  It is worth exploring for some children, but as treatment of food allergies and intolerances relies more heavily on avoidance of offensive foods, identifying the trigger of a delayed food allergy in a child is often enough.

Symptoms So Easily Missed, Why Do They Matter?

It stands to reason that if something is not causing much of a notable problem, it’s really not much of a concern at all; but that is not really the case in regards to delayed food allergy in children. As mentioned above, knowing that there is a problem with a delayed food allergy in a child and finding out what the source of the allergy is is imperative to management of the allergy.

Management of delayed food allergy in children is important because no child should live their life in pain or discomfort when there is another option.  Couple this with the fact that delayed food allergy in children may be causing chronic and secondary conditions such as asthma, and you have some very good reasons to explore the possibility of delayed food allergy in children.

Back Pain Relief: How To Avoid Surgery

Surgery May Not Be The Right Treatment For Back Pain

It used to be that if a person had a lot of back pain their doctor would recommend surgery to fix the problem. Following the surgery, the person would usually be on bed rest for a few weeks, and then, if all went well, their back would be better - unless it wasn’t. In the past, experts agree, there was too much back surgery done. Most people weren’t any better after the surgery, and many were worse.

Now, research has shown that most back pain, even lower back pain, will resolve itself without surgery, given rest and time. In fact, for most back pain, all other options should be tried prior to scheduling surgery on the back. Less than one percent of all people ever actually need surgery for their back pain, though four out of every five people have back pain at some time in their life.

Who Needs Surgery?

Generally, physicians believe that surgery should only be considered if other methods have been tried and were unsuccessful at relieving the back pain (or the pain returns), the pain is significantly affecting a person’s day-to-day life, or if left alone the back condition could deteriorate into a more serious state.

Non-Surgical Treatments

Physical therapy can be a great way to help the back and spine heal. Along with special, specific exercises, often the physical therapist will use other modalities, such as heat or cold therapy (reduces inflammation, pain and muscle spasms), ultrasound (uses sound waves to head and encourage circulation and reduces inflammation, pain and muscle spasms), massage, spinal traction, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) (uses a painless electrical currently on certain nerves to relieve pain and improve mobility of the back) and water therapy.

Some patients find relief by using medication to relieve their back pain. There are many kinds, some over the counter and others prescription. They include muscle relaxants, analgesics and NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Spinal injections can relieve pain and help the doctor determine the reason for the back pain. Two kinds are Facet Joint Injections and Epidural Steroid Injections. Spinal injections are not used alone, but are used along with physical therapy and exercise. They should always be recommended or prescribed by your doctor.

Often, chiropractic care can help relieve back pain. They can palpate, apply pressure, manipulate, massage and use other methods to re-align the vertebrae of the spine.

Other methods for dealing with back pain are considered alternative medicine. They include acupuncture, certain herbal medicines and biofeedback. If you use one of these therapies, be sure to have a reputable practitioner.

Roughly 25% of all deaths are attributable to heart disease brought on by blocked or ‘furred up’ coronary (heart) arteries, a condition also known as atherosclerosis that is brought on by raised blood cholesterol levels. A important component of heart disease is your life style and what food you eat.

Effortless steps like observing a 7 day detox plan, regular exercise, losing some weight and quitting smoking can have a major impact in cutting down your dangers of heart disease - you could also try using foot detox bath to help mop up all those toxins rushing round your bloodstream.

Warning signs of heart disease

If you contract heart disease, you will be at increased risk of developing angina (severe chest pain owing to your heart not getting adequate oxygen), a heart attack; an arrhythmia (which is an defective heart beat, which does cause breathlessness, dizziness and even death); or heart failure (when the heart cannot pump correctly, leading to shortness of breath, weariness, puffed up ankles, and which eventually might cut short your life expectancy).

Coronary Artery Disease can also occur in arterial blood vessels in different parts of your body, including the brain, kidneys, or legs. This can lead to strokes, kidney failure, or bad blood flow in the legs and in extreme cases amputation. Other problems of the heart and blood flow system include high blood pressure, heart attacks and varicose veins.

Virtually all heart problems can be warded off, or improved considerably by following some simple steps. To lessen your danger of heart disease, you should follow a healthy diet, don’t eat a lot of salt, learn how to quit smoking, only drink the recommended amount of alcohol, try an exercise every day, lose a few excess pounds (there’s plenty of tips to lose weight to help you), and cut down your stress levels.

Green tea is low in caffeine and high in antioxidants, and is considered to help reduce heart and circulatory disease, and makes a refreshing addition to a detox diet. At the moment the evidence for this is inconclusive, consuming green tea looks to be stable, so it may well be worth trying coupled with other preventative activities.
